The sad beige aesthetic has become a commonly used term for modern children's fashion, and Gen-Z is not having it. With modern fashion being captivated by simplicity, neutrals are among the top-trending looks for parents styling their kids. Many social media users are expressing that they feel as if Gen-Alpha is being raised with restrictions on creativity and self-expression. Personally, I know that wearing bold, bright outfits made me confident and happy growing up; it was practically a rite of passage for my friends and me. It is fascinating to see a generation of children growing up within an aesthetic curated by parents. While these children, styled in monochrome neutrals by their parents, may be avoiding some of the awkward fashion moments many of us experienced growing up, it leads me to wonder where they are finding the essential space to experiment with self-expression. The future of fashion is essentially in the hands of the generation associated with the sad beige aesthetic. What do you all think this will mean for the future of the industry and creativity?
