Emma Chamberlin has been a fashion icon for GEN Z since 2019. At eighteen, she became known as the muse of the basic girl or VSCO girl style that was rising in popularity. She is a significant part of the reason my generation is so into thrifting. Fashion has always been a big part of Emma’s identity. Like many teenagers, Emma’s style used to be considered more trendy and similar to the rest of the people her age. However, she has evolved drastically over the past few years. Her relationship with fashion clearly reflects that she has grown into herself.

Twenty-two-year-old Emma carries herself in a way that is distinctive and unique to who she is. This shift in her style is not an indication that she used to hide her authentic self, but rather that she found it. It is safe to say I have gone through a lot of different styles over the years, and I am sure I will try out even more. A huge piece of growing into yourself is trying out styles that do not feel like you in order to find what does. My favorite part of watching Emma’s style evolve alongside her identity is that she has grown to be happier. Emma’s outfits are rarely seen on anyone else because she prides herself on curating a style so niche to her identity. While many criticize and judge the way she presently styles herself, Emma does not change who she is to fit in with society. This type of dedication to self-expression is what I aspire to bring to my readers.
