Analyzing the Deeper Meaning Behind Halloween Costumes

Halloween is the one time of year when it is socially acceptable for everyone to wear an outfit they would not typically wear. People will not think twice when they see the craziest looks that would seem out of place on any other day. While it may seem like a fun celebration, many do not see the deeper meaning behind this. Growing up, I remember my friends and I planning what we were going to wear from the very start of the year. As I got older and more interested in fashion culture, I started to understand why this day is so anticipated. People can unapologetically express themselves. It is quite common for people to refrain from dressing in a way that makes them genuinely happy, to simply fit in. However, on Halloween, there are no fashion standards. As a fashion blogger, I see this as a day of self-expression and experimenting with new looks. The choice of costumes is the perfect example of fashion reflecting who you are and who you want to be. Whether you transform yourself into a nonfiction or fictional character, the costume you curate has intention and communicates aspirations of your identity.
